RESEARCHER/TEACHER VISA FOR ADULTS IN ORGANIZATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONSREGISTERED AT THE IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT (DIRECCION GENERAL DE MIGRACION Y EXTRANJERIA)

Application Requirements:

  1. Application form
  2. 1 recent passport-size photo.
  3. Copy of the information page of the passport. The passport must have a minimum validity of 6 months.
  4. Acceptance letter from the organization or educational institution registered at the Immigration Department (Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería). To fulfill this requirement, one of the following documents can be sent:
    1. Original letter and copy.
    2. The organization or school can send a scanned copy directly to the Consul from the official e-mail address of the organization or school.
  5. Original and copy of the following documents with less than 6 months of issuance and duly apostilled:
    1. International birth certificate
    2. Criminal record from the place wherethe applicant has lived during the last 3 years
  6. Proof of economic solvency, by one of the following documents:
    1. Bank statement that showsthe movement of income and expenses for the last 3 months, or
    2. Titles of real estate properties and vehicles, or
    3. Official letter from the employer, indicating salary, years of service and current position, or
    4. Full-time students can provide proof of financial solvency of their parents. Please attach a certification of the student's academic record.
  7. Any other documents requested by the Consul after reviewing the documents.

Starting the process at the Embassy or Honorary Consulate:

If the documents are complete and correct, an appointment at the Embassy or Honorary Consulate will be scheduled in order to stamp the visa in the passport. Please bring the original passport to the appointment.

 

Residency process in Costa Rica

Cost:

  • - Visa: See Tariff 21.
  • - Any additional costs requested by the Immigration Department to finish the residency application process.
